Principal Investigator

Wei-Ke Ji, Ph.D. · 季维克

Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Prof. Ji leads a research program on organelle contact sites, lipid transfer proteins, and disease-linked membrane remodeling. His group's work has been published in Nature Communications, Journal of Cell Biology, Cell Discovery, Cell Death & Differentiation, Molecular Biology of the Cell, and Journal of Cell Science.

He is based at the School of Basic Medicine, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and serves on the editorial board of Contact.

Team

Current group structure.

Named profiles and headshots can be added after each member approves public display. The current public version keeps trainee information at the role level to avoid exposing internal project assignments.

PD

Postdoctoral Fellows

Independent project leadership, imaging and biochemical reconstitution, scientific writing, and mentoring of junior trainees.

RS

Research Staff

Support for cell culture, microscopy, molecular biology, lipid analysis, and day-to-day experimental platforms.

PhD

Graduate Students

Mechanistic projects spanning organelle contact sites, lipid transfer proteins, quantitative imaging, and disease cell biology.

UG

Undergraduate Researchers

Early research training through mentored projects, literature discussion, microscopy practice, and scientific writing.

Training

What trainees learn.

  • Live-cell and fixed-cell fluorescence imaging
  • Organelle morphology and contact-site quantification
  • Protein interaction and lipid transfer assays
  • Cell biological models of disease-associated proteins
  • Critical reading, figure design, and clear scientific writing

Alumni

Where trainees go.

Lab alumni have continued into academic research, postdoctoral training, and research positions at universities, medical schools, and research institutes. Public alumni details can be expanded with permission from each alumnus or alumna.
